UM Radius Hogger – machine setting Check the axial and radial run out of the spindles. Please contact KUT if the maximum values shown to the right can not be complied with. The machine spindles must be set oblique to ensure that the tools cut on their way into the panel but run free on their way out. Adjust the tool to cut in its center line (pos. A). Run a panel half way past the tool and stop the feed chain and spindle. Adjust the spindle to make the tool run 0.6 mm free. Check with 0.6 mm plastic to not damage the diamond. The hoggers must be height adjusted to current board thickness. Run a board of known thickness (e.g. 19 mm) to the first hogger (A) and stop. Adjust the height of hogger A so that it on biggest diameter just touches the bottom face of the board. Adjust the spindle scale A to read 0.00. The second hogger is adjusted in the same way so that it just touches the upper face of the board. Adjust the spindle scale B to current board thickness (e.g. 19.00). In coming production the two hoggers are height adjusted according to relevant board thickness following the figures in the table shown to the right. The setting must be adjusted for reduced hogger diameter when reground. The two hoggers must be adjusted side ways to ensure a smooth edge without transition between A and B. (Use MDF). The work piece overhang from the feed belt must be as little as possible and 30 mm maximum. It is recommended that both spindles are slightly tilted (0.1 mm per 10 mm) to cut the edge of the board slightly hollow. (As sketched for hogger B to the right). This ensures the finest glue lines. Check with a set square. T 12 16 19 22 25 28 A 12 16 17 19 21 23 B -4 0 1 3 5 7
